Why Students should work at the cafe
The CafeWorking in the cafe can open your doors in more then just one way, the student’s that choose to take part of the cafe’s work force often walk away with money in there bank, Life skills, and in the mean while the student’s keep their grades up. When the cafe opened for the students to work at they went nuts. The YES program gave them the option to work at a real job on campus. The YES program offered minimum wage to the student’s who worked. As long as the student met the requirements he/she could work four hours a day, two hours before and two hours after school. So for once the student got to take in first hand knowledge of what the culinary work field had to offer. Some student’s liked to work there and enjoyed it while others despised it and only went to work to get the check. The cafe is there to provide the students with the job opportunity so the student may choose to continue this particular field of work. While working in the cafe the student’s may walk away with more then just a lot of money. The student gets the opportunity to work in a real job and learn what it takes to work there. The students learn everything associated with cooking from cleaning to food prep. He/she learns how to prepare, how to present the food, and most important how to cook the food. In today's society people don't have time to sit with there family and have a meal. A lot of Americans eat on the go and they will always need to be someone to cook for them. As johnny always says “People always need to eat”.There are certain guidelines that the student must follow in order to work, and the biggest requirement that is needed is the students grades. The student must have a 2.0 higher to work in the cafe. So that a student cant blame his/her poor grades on work. Because as soon as the YES program finds out that you have bad grades they put you on probation so you cant work until your grades get back up. So there for working in the cafe can give you good grades.Working in the cafe allows students at San Pasqual Academy to get paid, Obtain some key life skills, and even working in the cafe can boost your GPA. Who knew that working in the cafe can provide the student with so many things. The biggest thing that you can get from the cafe is a opportunity to check out culinary arts as a profession. Because who knows maybe you will like cooking and maybe you wont, But at the bear minimum the student gets paid.
Firefighting Tax cuts
A Lack in Public Safety
In the quiet peaceful neighborhood the horrific screams of a women shakes the nearby houses as her house fills with flames and smoke. The screaming continues and people next door peep out their windows to only see what was once a house is now an inferno. Neighbors quickly call 911 and describe what is happening as others restrain the owner of the house from barging into the burning building to save her 5 year old son. People in shock scream for the firefighters, and what use to be a 5-7 minute response is now a 10-15 minute response. But to the terrified people it felt like an eternity. As firefighters arrive they try their hardest to douse the flames, but since their gear is faulty and overused it only prolongs the time it takes to save her son. “Sorry, ma’am. We couldn't manage to save your son in time,” says the chief. This all could have been prevented if only the fire departments were not suffering from tax cuts.
San Diego has one hundred and thirty thousand emergencies per year according to a reporter of City Hall ,and the City of San Diego would like to reduce the fire service to a total of 11.5 million a year budget. However, in order to accomplish this goal nearly 13 fire stations will be completely shut down, leaving several hard working men and women without a job. The city focuses too much on making their city look pretty rather than making it safe. Fire departments cannot train due to the lack of operational fire stations, which only means that firefighters are getting basic training.
There should be no argument in the fact that no matter what city one lives in the main concern should be the public safety. Because the citizens are what makes the city and without its people there would not be a thriving city. People who live in the city pay taxes for this very reason, and most tax payers would rather have their lives saved than enjoy a picturesque park. San Diego would be a safe city, but due to the recent budget cuts that have affected the fire service, safety has been a forgotten concern. Firefighters have been forced to work with faulty unreliable gear. Which not only prolongs the amount on time it takes to save a life, but also undermines what the firefighter relies on ,his gear, to save their own lives.

Odyssey essay
The Odyssey
By: Homer
Even strong minded men surcome to temptation, but it is the men that break free from that temptation that impress the god’s. The Odyssey written by Homer in the late 8th century B.C is an epic tale of a mans god cursed journey home to Ithica. After the 10 year clash between the Trojans and the Greeks Odysseus travels home after having fought for the Greeks in the Trojan war.
After the war Odysseus upsets Poseidon, god of the ocean’s by coming up with the clever plan to sneak into the Trojans castle by hiding in a giant wooden horse. Poseidon was on the Trojans side and because Odysseus made the plans that overthrew the Trojans Poseidon grew angry at him. Thus, Odysseus was cursed by him to never rejoin his wife and to never make it home. Odysseus’s strong love for Penelope was what made his will to return home so much more desirable. Odysseus was able to use his cleverness rather than his strength to fight off temptation.Odysseus’s journey home was filled with many rigorous obstacles such as escaping the cave of a man eating Cyclopes by stabbing him in the eye and blinding him, this cyclopes happens to be Poseidon's son, this act only infuriates Poseidon even more. His love is so strong that he is willing to go to the depth’s of hell literally to find a solution that will get him ever closer to his wife. He even fights off the irresistible Calypso's to return to his quarters and his wife and son. Telemachus his son was born the day before Odysseus ventured to the war and is a young man at this point in the story. During the time Odysseus is gone Penelope falls victim to several suitors that want to seize his kingdom for themselves. Finally Odysseus returns home and with the help of his son he kills the men that were trying to overthrow his wife and kingdom. Odysseus wasn't a strong man but rather a smart man, he used his smarts and advice given to him by Athena to help guide him through out his journey home. With the strength of his mind and not his body Odysseus defied Poseidon and returned home. Through out the story Odysseus falls victim to temptation which prolongs his journey home, but Odysseus manages to overcome and make it home.
